The RoHS Directive (Restriction of (the use of certain) Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment) restricts the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment. The directive’s scope of application is limited to the use of electrical and electronic equipment, and products that are used in other areas are not subject to the requirements imposed by this directive
The RoHS Directive governs the restriction of the use of hazardous substances that do not exceed the respective current maximum levels in the homogenous material of the elements and compounds listed below:
- Lead
- Mercury
- Cadmium
- Hexavalent chromium (Cr VI)
- Polybrominated biphenyls (PBB)
- Polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE)
- Bis(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP)
- Benzyl butyl phthalate (BBP)
- Dibutyl phthalate (DBP)
- Diisobutyl phthalate (DIBP)
